International awards and recognitions

In 2022 prof. Gorazd Meško received Freda Adler Distinguished Scholar Award 2022 by the American Society of Criminology.

In 2020 dr. Rok Hacin received an award of European society for criminology for best young criminologist (»ESC Young Criminologist Award«).

In 2018 dr. Kaja Prislan received Danubius Young Scientist Award 2018.

In 2018 prof. Gorazd Meško received an award for his remarkable contribution in development and international recognition of Faculty of Law Podgorica. The award was issued by the University of Montenegro.

In 2016 prof. Gorazd Meško received an award for his contribution in development of Sarajevo's Faculty of Criminalistics, Criminology and Security Studies. The award was issued by the University of Sarajevo.

In 2016 dr. Simon Vrhovec was rewarded with Outstanding Contribution in Reviewing. He was awarded by the International Journal of Project Management (ISSN 0263-7863) in recognition of his contributions made to the quality of the journal.

In 2015 prof. dr. Gorazd Meško was named International Ambassador of the British Society of Criminology (BSC), due to his international activity in the field of criminological research and his collaboration with British research institutions.

National awards and recognitions

In 2020 prof. dr. Gorazd Meško and dr. Rok Hacin received »Excellent in science« award by Slovenian Research Agency.

In 2020 dr. Katja Eman received Silver Police Emblem for her contribution in strengthening the security and safety of Slovenia.

In 2019 prof. Gorazd Meško received Bronze Police Emblem for his contribution in strengthening the security and safety of Slovenia.

In 2018 dr. Branko Lobnikar received Bronze Police Emblem for his contribution in strengthening the security and safety of Slovenia.

In 2018 prof. Gorazd Meško was named one of five best mentors of the year by the Association of doctoral students and researchers at the beginning of their career (“Young Academy”).

In 2018 dr. Katja Prislan was chosen as the name of the week by a Slovenian radio station Val 202. She was chosen as such for her research contributions and awards.

In 2006 dr. Andrej Sotlar received Bronze emblem of University of Maribor for extraordinary success, achievements and merits for his scientific research, as well as educational, cultural, artistic or other work.

Awards and recognitions issued to Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security

In 2020 Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security received a plaquette issued by the Municipality of Ljubljana. The plaquette is issued to individuals and institutions that play an important role in the development of Municipality of Ljubljana.

In 2019 Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security in partnership with Slovenian Traffic Safety Agency and Municipality of Ljubljana, received Prizma award for excellence in communicational programmes in the field of public relations for the project »Park your excuses elsewhere! Not on parking places reserved for disabled people«. Project leader: dr. Aleš Bučar Ručman.

In 2011 Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security was rewarded by Detective Chamber of the Republic of Slovenia for its merits and contributions in strengthening detective work in Slovenia. Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security thus became the first institution in Slovenia to receive official acknowledgment by Detective Chamber of the Republic of Slovenia.

In 2011 Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security was welcomed as a member of »The United Nations Academic Impact« (UNAI), a union of universities, that follow values and priorities of United Nations. Faculty annually reports about research work in the field of reaching goals of continual development of United Nations. The membership in UNAI is permanent, which is a great honour for our Faculty.
